A beautiful moment which we wish could last forever but is good enough as long as it lasts. A life long memory brings a smile on the face even during a crisis. But is it worth being absent from a moment to build a memory or be in the moment?

It was July 2015. I had got a ticket for the legendary Robot Restaurant show in Tokyo. Considered one of the hottest shows in Tokyo, this extravagant mix of Japanese anime themes and pyro-electronic stuff, the show is a must for anyone who wants to have a crash course in Japanese hospitability and the culture at the same time.

It was not difficult to find the place. It is just a 10-minute walk from the east exit of Shinjuku station. One either books the tickets online, which is recommended or buy on the spot subject to the availability.
It took some time. But I managed to get my ticket.

The interiors were out of the world. One stormtrooper was playing on the Piano. From a glitzy bar to a colorful toilet, I felt like it transcended into a new world. But things changed the moment abruptly there was an announcement to move to the main hall. Now it was a classic scene similar to a single screen Movie theater where everyone was rushing to grab the seat. There were staff people selling snacks and beverages. The stage was set for a great show.

The show brought the viewers to a different world. There were dance performances, dinosaurs, fireworks, and special effects. It was more like a Japanese anime with larger than life storyline, sets, and the characters.

And here is when the eternal dilemma hit me. I grabbed my phone and tried to capture the moments. After all, the moment will not last forever though I will have memories for the lifetime. But I was missing something. I was distracted and not able to indulge myself entirely at the moment. Then all of sudden something came to my mind. A quote from the movie ” the secret life of Walter Mitty.”

“If I like a moment, for me, personally, I don’t like to have the distraction of the camera. I just want to stay in it. “

The gist is that I do not have some great pictures to back it up, but I recommend the Robot Restaurant show. The sensory overload is just the worth.
